Spain
About 60 million people visit Spain every year bringing approximately €60 billion into the economy. Tourist related industries in Spain include transport such as airports, taxis, bicycles, coaches, boats and car hire centers. Also much of the work created by tourism is in museums, hotels, ski resorts, restaurants, cafes and theme parks. Restaurants and cafes are plentiful and often open air near the beach and pool resorts. Holidaymakers can buy their drinks and meals in them while enjoying the warm climate. The biggest industry that has benefitted from tourism in Spain is construction. In the past 40 years hotels and holiday homes have been built on almost every inch of coastline. Holiday villas were sold to Irish, English and German buyers as it became cheaper and easier to travel by plane across Europe. Recently many Europeans have lost a lot of their personal money and the construction industry along with all that goes with that in Spain has ground to a halt.
